Cleaning Up Debris After Storm in Amarillo

What would you do if your bathroom floor was covered with sewage and other contaminants due to a broken pipe? After an incredible amount of water damage, SERVPRO of Amarillo techs worked on the remediation.

We started by vacuuming the floor and walls to remove as much of the water and drywall mud as possible. The floors were then mopped with a disinfectant cleaner.

A second round of vacuuming was completed, this time with the vacuum equipped with filters to trap any contaminants that may have passed through the first set of filters. Once this is complete, technicians begin the process of removing damaged drywall. The walls are cut out in sections and removed.

After the damaged drywall is removed, we spray water and a disinfectant cleaner on and around the exposed piping. Once that’s done, technicians will replace any insulation which requires removal. The area is hooked up to a positive air machine for 24 hours as well as running fans to help dry out the room.

Finally, new drywall is installed, seams caulked and repainted with a high quality paint. The final step in the process is to vacuum the floor one last time to ensure any remaining contaminants are removed.
